I had mentioned before that I had a pretty decent view of the Rocky Mountains from my office. I had my 70-200 with me one day, so I thought I would try to see what I could capture with it from there. Here's one of the shots I took, which includes some of the great fall colours in the neighbourhood.

It's starting to get a little colder and a little more dreary around here. I was walking around in the fields next to my son's soccer practice a couple of weeks ago and noticed this almost-bare tree with a few leaves still hanging on for dear life. Winter is coming!

I was rearranging my photo library, trying to figure out a better way to organize and categorize my photos when I came across this shot of a metal park bench with some great bokeh. I wasn't really trying for this effect, but sometimes my camera and lens surprises me and a neat shot results from it. I also tried converting it to black and white, but I'm not sure which version I like better. What do you think?

I have one more flower to share from the zoo trip last summer. Here are a bunch of flowers that were hanging in front of a tree in the main area of the conservatory. Unfortunately, I again have no idea what these flowers, since I wasn't clever enough to photograph the label for them. Looking back at the photo, I wish I had positioned myself and framed it better to avoid the larger white flowers behind this bunch as I think they distract from the purple flowers in the foreground.

We continue with the floral theme from last week as I work my way through the photos I took at the Calgary Zoo this summer. Here's a shot of some Orchids I saw there. I was also experimenting with some more of onOne's Aperture presets. This photo is a result of one from their set of curve adjustments. I like how it brought out more of the blues and purples and toned down some of the reds and yellows.
