It would seem that it's been a lot longer since I've been to B.C. than I had originally thought. When I was there a couple of months ago, I took a shot of what I thought was the Kelowna Floating Bridge, but after a bit of searching to see if I could find the proper name for it, I learned that the bridge I vaguely remember was actually decommissioned in 2009. It was replaced by the William R. Bennett Bridge in 2008. This photo was taken from the passenger seat after we had crossed the bridge heading into West Kelowna.

Friday's Photo - Lake Okanagan Panorama
Now that we've digressed a bit, I thought I would return to the Kelowna trip from earlier this summer. Here is one last look at Lake Okanagan from the shore of Gyro Beach in the form of a panoramic photo. This was stitched together from 8 shots and then cropped to a rectangle. One of the interesting challenges I noticed in post-processing this image is that I didn't take into account the motion of the water. I had hoped to keep some of the beach in frame, but since each individual shot was taken at a different moment, the waves were completely out of sync in the foreground.
Friday's Photo – Butterfly
A couple of months ago, we took the kids to the Calgary Zoo and wandered around for an afternoon. With camera in hand, I took the opportunity to try shooting some of the plants and animals. I hadn't been there in many many years, so some of the exhibits were either new or just new-to-me. One area I didn't remember was the butterfly room and it certainly provided a lot of opportunity for some nice shots such as this one:
In fact, this was one of the many favourite shots from that day, so I ended up ordering a print of it on canvas from the folks over at 44 Wide. It arrived last week and it looks great!
Friday's Photo - Storm Clouds
A brief thunder storm rolled through our neighbourhood last night pelting us with some heavy rain and pea-to-grape-sized hail. Here are a couple of shots of the neat clouds as they were leaving our area.
Friday's Photo - Two
Last week, my youngest daughter turned two and we got one of those 'cupcake-cakes' for her. Oddly enough, she didn't immediately take to making a mess out of it. She asked for a spoon, sat at the table, and ate it like the little princess she is. ;-)

The next day, however, all bets were off. As you can see, she had another one of the cupcakes with an appropriate amount of gusto… :-)
