This week, we return to B.C. with a shot of Lake Okanagan as seen from Gyro Beach in Kelowna. We got there relatively early (we supposed) since the beach was pretty sparsely populated. I was originally going to just sit on the sand and be lazy, but I had to get a shot of the empty lake before it got too busy with swimmers and watercraft. It was pretty hypnotic and relaxing to just sit there and watch the buoys bob up and down.
We pause from the shots taken in B.C. to bring you some photos from the Calgary Stampede last week. For those unfamiliar with it, it's a western-themed carnival/fair/expo type of event. There's all kinds of things happening during this, including rodeos, chuckwagon races, concerts, and other performances. Of course, there's also the midway fairgrounds where there are innumerable food vendors, rides, games, and far too many opportunities to spend money.
Today we continue the trip to B.C. with some shots I took as we approached the Rocky Mountains. These photos were taken as we headed west on Highway 1 toward Banff. I was fortunate to be able to be in the passenger seat for this leg of the trip, so I took the chance to take some shots along the way.
Last week, we drove out to the Okanagan in British Columbia for my son's soccer tournament. Here's my daughter 2 hours into the road trip. :)
Happy Canada Day! We're on the road to beautiful British Columbia for one of my son's soccer tournaments. I'm hoping to get at least a few chances to take some shots of the great scenery there and will hopefully have more to post about when we get back.
In the meantime, our photo today is a shot of the sidelines from one of the better soccer pitches they've played on so far this season. It was some really lush and thick grass that was well maintained and neatly trimmed. I was trying to play around with the depth of field and really liked how this turned out.
